Application checklist

Use this checklist to ensure your application is complete. If you have questions or need any assistance in assembling your application, please review the instructions in our online or paper applications, or consult with our Admissions professionals. Admissions staff for the EMBA and HCEMBA programs can be reached at (949) 824 0561. A completed application for our Executive MBA or Health Care Executive MBA programs should include:

  • Completed Application Form. (online application)
  • U.S. $150.00 nonrefundable application fee. May be paid by Visa, MasterCard or a check or money order in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank, made out to "UC Regents."
  • A resume detailing your full-time work history. Substantive work experience is an important criterion for admission to our Executive MBA programs. EMBA applicants should include an organizational chart reflecting your level and scope of responsibility. HCEMBA applicants may include this information, also, if you believe it will be helpful in our evaluation of your experience.
  • Two letters of recommendation. Recommendations provide important information about your performance in professional settings and about your potential to take on additional leadership responsibility. The most valuable recommendations come from people who will be able to relate specific and relevant details about your performance. Letters from your current employer or supervisor, or from recent employers or supervisors, are typically most helpful.
  • Self-Evaluation Essays, as detailed in the application, explaining why you are interested in pursuing a graduate degree in management and how a degree from The Paul Merage School of Business would further those interests. Two essays give you the proper forum to discuss work experience, community and professional leadership, and accomplishments. The third "essay" is a memo to your supervisor that we expect to be written in appropriate memo-format.
  • One copy of official transcripts of all previous academic work. A bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognized academic institution of acceptable standing. Ordinarily, an overall undergraduate grade point average of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better is required.
  • The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is not required. Candidates lacking evidence of quantitative skills are highly recommended to submit a GMAT score to strengthen their application.
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores for students whose primary language is not English. You are responsible for having your TOEFL scores sent directly to UC Irvine. If you have questions about whether you will need to take the TOEFL, please contact our Admissions staff.
  • Signature of applicant (Honor Pledge)
  • 5 Applicant address labels (for future correspondence)
